Obituary

Marjorie Ann Hopkins, 85, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019 in Ralls, Texas.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews with Pastor Kevin Covington of Andrews, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 AM on Tuesday at Gaines County South Cemetery, 311 CR 301, in Seminole. Please visit www.mcnettfuneralhome.com for obituary information and visitation and service details.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Susie and James Phelps, brother James C. Phelps, and sisters Elizabeth Kyle and Virginia Wilson.

Marjorie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Carl Hopkins of Andrews, TX; twin daughters, Joretta McWilliams and husband Ronnie McWilliams of Sacramento, NM, Loretta King of Seminole, TX; three grandchildren, Brian McWilliams and wife Betty, Chad King and wife Josie, and Rachel King; and six great-grandchildren, Lawson and Jenna King, Caitlyn and Myndie McWilliams, and Jason and Jaimie Almager.

Marjorie was born on October 24, 1933 in Washington, Arkansas. Marjorie moved to West Texas in 1956 and married Carl Hopkins on April 5, 1957 in Monahans. They owned and operated several businesses, where she was head bookkeeper. They lived in Seminole for many years before moving to Andrews in 1994. She was an accomplished musician and songwriter and played guitar, piano, organ and violin. She was a partner in the Belenda Dee Music company. One of her favorite songs she wrote was called 'Roadmap to Heaven.' She was active in her church and outreach ministries including Hopkins Evangelist Ministries. She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Gardendale. She loved to garden and had many beautiful flowers though her real passion was fishing. She was a wonderful 'pet mommy' and was known to pamper and spoil them all. Marjorie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who touched the lives of so many with her generous spirit and kindness.
