Obituary

Randy Lewis Ervin, 67, of Brownfield, Texas passed away on Sunday, March 17, 2019 in Lubbock, Texas.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 21, 2019 at South Park Baptist Church, 2201 82nd Street, Lubbock, Texas with Rev. Brad Layton officiating. Cremation is under the personal care of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews, Texas. Please celebrate Randy’s life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Randy was born on May 8, 1951 in Brownfield, Texas to James Roy and Mildred Day Ervin. He grew up in Brownfield graduating from Brownfield High School in 1969. He married Gayla Harrison on August 2, 1975 in Brownfield, Texas. Randy and Gayla moved to Andrews in 1983. He worked for McGarity Chevrolet in Andrews for many years. Randy also worked for the Andrews School system and the City of Lubbock. He retired from Wheeler Motor Company in Stanton, Texas. Randy loved to sing and was one of the founding members of The West Texas Watchmen, a well-known southern gospel quartet. Randy loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a NASCAR fan who enjoyed the races very much. Randy was a member and a Deacon at Southpark Baptist Church in Lubbock. He married Gayla with a promise to love, honor, respect and cherish her and their marriage until his last moment on earth. No promise was more faithfully kept and treasured; no wife, child or grandchild could have had a more loving and giving husband, dad, and papa in their life. He was preceded in death by his father James Roy Ervin, and brother Joe Ervin.

Randy is survived by his wife Gayla Ervin of Brownfield, Texas, son Joseph Ervin and wife Lea Ann of Midland, Texas; mother Mildred Ervin of Brownfield, Texas; twin sister Sandy Atkins and husband Robert of Lubbock, Texas; four grandchildren, Bailey Hosier of Midland, Texas, Dakota Ervin of Odessa, Texas, Cooper Ervin and Bella Ervin both of Midland, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.
