Lorene Tyner Carter
Lorene Tyner Carter, 98, of Andrews passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 in Andrews.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life at 10:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel in Andrews. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Sunday, July 22, 2018 at Tin Top Cemetery in Weatherford. Please celebrate her life by visiting www.mcnettfuneralhome.com.

Lorene was born on January 21, 1920 in Steiner Valley, Texas to Lee Paul Ferguson and Vesta Irene Hart Ferguson. She was raised in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School in 1938. She married T.O. Tyner in 1938 in Mexia, and they moved to Andrews in 1949. He preceded her in death on February 3, 1955. She married T.T. Carter on November 24, 1965 in Andrews, and he preceded her in death on May 27, 2009. She started driving a bus for the Andrews Schools and worked for the them from 1950 – 1984 and retired as the middle school cafeteria manager. During the summer, she had served as a dietitian for the Boy Scouts Camp. She was a past member of the Andrews Study Club, Andrews Country Club, and the Andrews Retired Teachers Association. She had been a member of Calvary Baptist Church since 1966. She had been a long-time resident of Permian Residential Care Center, where she touched many lives and will be remembered by the residents and the staff. She will be remembered as being an extraordinary Christian lady that expressed her faith in Christ everyday to the ones she met, and her faith and prayer life were unchanging. She has helped countless people along her way, so we all feel blessed to have known her. She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, T.L. “Jake” Ferguson in 1988, and her daughter, Paula Allgood-Graves on January 3, 2015.

Lorene is survived by her 2 grandchildren, Gigi Goines Hankins of Waynesville, North Carolina and Tyner Douglas Goines and wife, Kelly, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, longtime friend, Earlene Broyles of Andrews, 5 step children, Elizabeth Ann Williams and husband, Jack, of Liberty City, Barbara Lou Battles of Andrews, Guy Thomas Carter and wife, Brenda, of Kilgore, Clyde Cobra Carter and wife, Pam, of Andrews, and Katrina Kay Phillips and husband, Billy, of Lubbock, 7 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, 13 step grandchildren, and numerous step great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Permian Residential Care Center and Dr. Muncy for the excellent care and friendship to Lorene; so we request all memorials be sent to Permian Residential Care Center, PO Box 2108, Andrews, Texas 79714.
