Jose Ventura Bueno, 94, of Andrews passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 in Andrews.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at 2:00 PM Friday, July 20, 2018 at La Nueva Jerusalem Church, 2535 NW Mustang Drive, in Andrews with Pastor Nick Garcia officiating. Interment will follow in the Andrews West Cemetery. Prayer services will be at 6:00 PM Thursday, July 19, 2018 at McNett Funeral Home Chapel. Jose was born on June 14, 1924 to Cruz Bueno and Dolores Bueno Salinas. He was raised and attended schools in Piedra Negras, Coahuila, Mexico. He married Lena Rios on October 11, 1952 in Batesville, Texas. The family lived in Pearsall, Texas, where he was a ranch foreman. They moved to Andrews in 1969, where he worked for 40 years as a backhoe and heavy equipment operator for Circle M Construction. His wife, Lena preceded him in death on June 16, 1988. He married Emilia Ortega on March 15, 1997 in Andrews, and they moved to Uvalde in 1999. She preceded him in death on March 13, 2018. He moved to Andrews in 2018 to be closer to his family. He enjoyed woodworking, wood carving, baseball, New York Yankees, reading, and telling jokes. He will be remembered for drawing a crowd for his storytelling, where he was known to have his own language. He was known to be a very hard worker all his life and took pride in providing for his family. He loved most of all, spending time with his family. He was a member of La Nueva Jerusalem Church in Andrews. He was also preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Maribel Bueno, siblings, Leon Bueno, Angel Bueno, Julia Emiliano, Feliz Figueroa, Cruz Bueno, Luz Perez, and Carlos Bueno.
Jose is survived by his 7 children, Lupita Ortiz and husband, Roberto, of Andrews, Carlos Bueno of Odessa, Gloria Bueno of Andrews, Ramiro Bueno of Andrews, Hector Bueno and wife, Lourdes, of Healdton, Oklahoma, Hugo Bueno of Odessa, and Blanca Hobbs and husband, Jimmy, of Andrews, brother, Ramiro Bueno and wife, Teresa, of Piedras Negras, Mexico, 19 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
